“The Saigon Sizzle food truck serves up fresh, tasty Vietnamese cuisine from a bright orange truck you can’t miss. The BBQ pork bun is a delicious sweet roll, baked with the pork inside. It’s unusual and delicious. The marinated pork tacos from here were a real highlight. While it seems that nearly every other food truck has a pork taco, what made these stand out were the bold flavors and fresh herbs and vegetables that top the ginger and soy flavored pork.”
“Orlando is no stranger to Vietnamese cuisine, so it’s nice to have trucks like Saigon Sizzle roving about in case you’re nowhere near Colonial Drive and you get a hankering for banh mi. The family-run truck has few surprises, with the smallish menu including plates of vermicelli noodles or rice ($7) topped with signature Vietnamese ingredients like cilantro, cucumber, carrots and your choice of pork, chicken or tofu. The tacos plate ($6 for two) gives you the same protein options, and adds the flourish of a tangy homemade mayonnaise to the crunchy veggies. Service is friendly and generous – you may be treated to a complimentary hot dog-in-a-bun if your wait is too long.”
“My first encounter with this food truck was late one evening at the Fashion Square Mall. It was their first outing to Orlando. Their food was nicely displayed in clear plastic containers. Since dinner at Hawkers that evening had me filled to the brim, I could only look. Most of the display were a main item with sides. I have always thought that adding sides to main items at these food truck bazaars were senseless. We get filled up so fast and can’t get a good sampling of all the trucks present. We like to spread our bellies around.
So to my utter delight, Saigon Sizzle heard my silent wince and changed their menu. Gone are the “combos” and in is the simple small manageable single item menu all under $7! Wonder if they read my mind as I stood there on that cold evening? They did everything I thought about.
I tried the pork and chicken tacos. Watch out for the flavor explosion! Meat marinated in soy sauce, lemongrass, fish sauce, and ginger among “other things” as my young attendant disclosed, will always capture my palate. I was especially happy that the vegetables were crisp and fresh in the blazing mid day sun. Great little offering that allowed me to enjoy this food truck and was still able to sample their neighbor’s food.”
” I saw one of the new trucks in town “Saigon Sizzle”, a Vietnamese food truck based out of Orange City. The owners of Saigon Sizzle are a friendly and sincere Asian American husband and wife team who are proud to show off their menu of banh mi sandwiches, Vietnamese rice noodle bowls with grilled pork and chicken, and rice platters, all topped with your choice of sriracha, soy sauce, or thai sweet and spicy chili sauce at the table.
I knew I probably won’t be travelling to Orange City any time soon so I had to take the opportunity and order the chicken and pork tacos ($6 for two) from the Saigon Sizzle food truck. The tacos were full of fresh grilled soy sauce and fish sauce marinated chicken and pork, pickled carrots, cucumbers, and fresh herbs all wrapped in a soft tortilla. It was enjoyable, especially with the great abundance of fresh veggies in the taco and the added topping of the spicy chili sauce.”
